Activision Announce The Walking Dead First-Person Shooter

We’re surprised it took this long, but Activision has today announced a brand new game based on The Walking Dead TV show. Guess what, it’s a first-person shooter.

The game will be developed by Terminal Reality, and will revolve around Daryl Dixon and his brother Merle on a “haunting, unforgiving quest to make their way to the supposed safety of Atlanta.”

You will control Daryl as him and his brother attempt to avoid detection from zombies that hunt using sight, sound and smell. Being a first-person shooter, you can choose to take the zombies head on or use stealth to avoid detection.

“No place is truly safe for Daryl as he makes his way through the Georgia countryside in this new, post-apocalyptic world,” stated Activision.

Supplies will be scarce, so you will need to carefully manage food, ammunition and supplies if you want to successfully make your way through the game. As you progress, you will encounter other characters for the TV series. Depending on decisions you make, these characters will either help or hinder you on your epic, zombie filled journey.

The Walking Dead first-person shooter will heading to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2013. You can watch the first trailer for the game over at IGN.
