Bigpoint Name Game of Thrones MMORPG

by

First a book, then a TV show and soon to be a Free to Play MMO, The highly anticipated Game of Thrones MMORPG has finally been given an official name – Game of Thrones Seven Kingdoms (GOTSK).

Developers Bigpoint have teamed up with HBO to bring players an experience as close to the book/ tv show as possible, giving them the chance to experience the epic events from the Television Series. A couple of screen shots can be seen below but you can look forward to a new and exclusive game trailer that will be released during the San Diego Comic Con later this month (July 12-15).

According to Max Pfaff the producer of Bigpoint, “Selecting a game’s title can be quite an arduous process, especially in the free-to-play space where games must be easily discoverable by players around the world,”

“By selecting Game of Thrones Seven Kingdoms we’re confident that we’ve chosen an identifiable name that will resonate with the global community of diehard Thrones fans.”

Spoiler Alert!!! – The time line is set after specific events so stop reading if you don’t want the series to be spoilt!

You have been warned…

If you are still reading then you are familiar with the events of the Seven Kingdoms under the rule of Robert Baratheon. GOTSK will be taking place after the death of both Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark. This will mean players are involved with the war waged by the Northern Stark’s and the Southern Baratheons/Targaryens. Players will therefore need to form alliances using PvP, Siege Combat and Politics, if they wish to become a force to be respected.

The trailer is going to show what can be expected of the gameplay and graphics once GOTSK is unleashed on the world. Any who like what they see may want to get involved with the beta testing later this year. To keep your eye on when this gets underway you can visit the official website and get all of the latest information updates, or give @GOTMMO a follow on twitter.

Let us know what you think about books and TV programmes being converted into games. Does it work? Are you excited? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

You know you're a gamer when you live for the smell of a feshly opened game, mmmmmmm yes! I fell in love with games the day I was given a NES which came with Teenage Mutant Nunja Turtles and Mario Bros. Since then my tastes have developed and I'll happily play most genres, but I can tell you that scary games are a no go! I also try to avoid realistic racing titles. It's Mario Kart for the win!
