2K Games have today announced Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, which is due for release in Autumn of this year.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC and will be set in between the events of Borderlands 1 & 2. It will focus on Borderlands 2 character, Handsome Jack. There will also be four new playable characters, which thanks to CVG, include:
- Athena, the Gladiator: Athena was player one during the demo. She originally appeared in “The Secret Armory of General Knoxx” DLC for the first Borderlands game. Athena’s action skill is the “Kinetic Aspis” which absorbs incoming damage, and can then be thrown at enemies to deal the absorbed damage to them. In the demo, her skill points were invested in the Phalanx skill tree, which is focused on healing and tanking abilities. During the demo she unlocked the final ability on that tree – “Wrath of the Goddess” – which causes her shield to ricochet and damage multiple enemies.
- Wilhelm, the Enforcer: Main co-op partner during the demo. Wilhelm appeared as one of the first bosses in Borderlands 2.
- Claptrap, the Fragtrap: This is the Claptrap first encountered at the beginning of the first Borderlands and the last surviving Claptrap unit during Borderlands 2. He appeared briefly in the demo with his upgraded Fragtrap combat abilities.
- Nisha, the Lawbringer: Nisha appeared in Borderlands 2 as the Sheriff of Lynchwood, but was not present in the demo.
