Following Capcom’s official unveiling of Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 yesterday, producer Ryota Niitsuma has stated they won’t be releasing the updates as DLC for the original game.
“Right now, we’re only thinking about releasing a disc version.” said Niitsuma in an interview with Siliconera.
“Given the development schedule, there wasn’t enough time to work out all of the details to release it as downloadable content, as well. Also, for the reason you mentioned, there is so much data in the game it was easier to go this route.”
In addition to this, Capcom have also acknowledged the authenticity Ulimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 roster leak that hit the Internet yesterday.
“Today we announced Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for PS3 and Xbox 360 as well as the first four characters and a playable build for this week’s San Diego Comic-Con. As part of that, you may have seen some of our new characters for the game pop up on the Internet a bit earlier than anticipated. We are very happy with the positive response to the lineup, but at this point we’re only going to focus on the four characters (Strider, Firebrand, Ghost Rider, Hawkeye) we have officially revealed. As for the other eight additional characters, we will have a ton of info, videos, screens and playable code in the coming months. Stay tuned!”
We must say, it’s nice to see Capcom come out and officially confirm the authenticity of the leak, not many companies would do that. Sure, there hand was forced, but most other companies would probably have “no comment” and then officially announce the known information a few months down the line. In that respect, kudos to Capcom.
In regards to the Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 update being to big for DLC, it seems like Capcom have a genuine reason for just releasing the game on disc. However, it still means people who purchased the original will have to shell out another £20-30 to get access to all the new content. What do you guys think? As always, feel free to let us know.
