CD Projekt RED Announce The Witcher 2 Xbox 360 Release Date

Good news, RPG lovers! The lovely folks over at CD Projekt RED have today announced that The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings Enhanced Edition will be released for the PC and Xbox 360 on April 17th.

The console version of critically acclaimed RPG will come in two flavours, the Enhanced Edition and Dark Edition. The former is basically the standard edition, and will include a quest handbook, official soundtrack, manual as well as the game itself, which will come on on two discs. The Dark Edition is the deluxe offering, and will come with a rather cool special edition box, art book, three stickers, medallion, ‘making of’ DVD, plus the contents of the Enhanced Edition.

Not content with just bringing the PC version over the Xbox 360, CD Projekt RED also revealed that the game will feature the following enhancements:

  • New CGI game intro
  • New quests and locations
  • Major new NPCs
  • New targeting, camera and control systems
  • Improved user interface, revamped to deliver better control on the Xbox 360

Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt RED studio, stated the following regarding the Xbox 360 version:

“The Xbox 360 version is a complete adaptation of the game to the new platform, we’ve rewritten the code so it feels native to the console. This latest version of The Witcher 2 has been expanded in many ways, and some experts believe it to be one of the best-looking games ever to make it to consoles.”

If you’re an owner of the PC version and are thinking “what about us?”, then you need not worry, as Badowski also added the following:

“PC users who already own the game will be happy to learn that they will be able to download all the added content free of charge. At the same time, the Xbox 360 version will incorporate all DLCs and upgrades made available thus far for the game’s original platform (including the ‘Arena’ arcade mode and Tutorial that were part of the latest and richest PC version).”
