Destiny 2 – Full BETA Details, New Map and Control mode, Locked Loudouts

by

With Destiny 2 news coming in hot now, we’ve got more to share thanks to Bungie’s ‘This week at Bungie’ blog post as well as some more details from IGN’s daily Destiny 2 content reveals.

Destiny 2 BETA Details

First up, from Bungie’s weekly blog post, we know now the exact content of the upcoming BETA. We originally had expected that all the content from the gameplay reveal and E3 would be available but we now also know that we’ll have a little more to play through when the BETA goes live on the 18th July. Here’s what it will have:

  • Homecoming: The opening mission from Destiny 2’s Campaign.
  • Countdown: A brand new mode for Destiny 2, previously seen at reveal and E3.  Attack or Defend the base on a new map custom-built to support this new game type.
  • Control: Control mode from Destiny 1 returns with some ‘impactful changes’. The mode will have another completely new map we haven’t seen before especially designed for the mode.
  • The Inverted Spire: The Vex themed strike from the reveal and E3, available with two friends or matchmaking.
  • New Subclasses: Choose from the Dawnblade Warlock, Arcstrider Hunter, or Sentinel Titan.
  • The Farm: For one hour, on Sunday, July 23rd, the new social space will be open to us. Starting at 6PM BST, most vendors and services will be offline with the goal to stress test the new area.

In the post they clarified that clan support will not be available in the BETA, as well as character continuity and progression. For anyone who participates in the BETA, they’ll receive this swanky Emblem to commemorate the pre-launch experience.

In other news, yesterday’s IGN First revealed a few more details the perked some interest. One of those was of the possibility of Ship Shaders or Decals. One of the clips in the video showed several of the same ship launching from orbit, but each had different colours with the snake logos associated with one of the game’s classes. It’s not a confirmed feature, but it certainly something to speculate on.

The other major tease was taken from the Luke Smith interview. He told us that some activities will have ‘locked loadouts’ insinuating that we won’t be able to change our weapons once we’ve entered said activities. Again, details are vague on how that will ultimately impact the experience and for what modes but it’s something that could potentially change the way activities such as Raids and end game crucible matches are approached. Take a look at the full video below, and let us know what you think.
