EA have officially unveiled Need for Speed: Rivals which will be released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 19th. It will also be released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year.
The latest Need for Speed title comes developed by EA’s new studio, Ghost Games. It is built on the Frostbite 3 game engine and captures the adrenaline and intensity of the street’s ultimate rivalry between cops and racers, in a stunning open road environment.
Need for Speed: Rivals sees players take on the role as either a cop or racer where each side has its own high stake challenges, rewards and consequences. Players will have the goal to become infamous for taking risks behind the wheel and capturing your most intense escapes on video for the world to see.
Players will collect Speedpoints for the more cops that they manage to avoid which allows them access to new cars and items. Players will raise the stakes race after race, earning more and more Speedpoints along the way and becoming a more valuable target to the cops. As a cop, players need to work together as a team in order to take down the racers, earning prominence and rising in the ranks of the Police Force with every bust. Achieving higher ranks unlocks new police only cars and more powerful pursuit tech.
For the first time in 7 years, Ferrari will also be returning to Need for Speed: Rivals. Players will get behind the wheel of some of the most luxurious, desirable automobiles on the planet, including the F12berlinetta.
AllDrive is the core component for Need for Speed: Rivals which comes as an innovative new feature that allows gamers to seamlessly transition from playing alone, to playing with friends, destroying the line between single player and multiplayer. Players need to keep an eye on their rearview mirror as friends all playing the game will be allowed to enter and exit races on-the-fly, creating a world where no two events will ever be the same.
Improved gameplay features to bring the next-gen experience to Need for Speed: Rivals include:
