If you’ve been eagerly awaiting your chance to get your hands on Final Fantasy XIII-2 before its release, today is your lucky day, as Square Enix has released a demo for their soon-to-released RPG on the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE.
Taking place in the Bresha Ruins of the game, the demo pits protagonists Noel and Serah against a huge, powerful adversary called Atlas, who has mysteriously appeared due to an anomaly in time and space. The demo allows you to experience many gameplay features and enhancements, such as cinematic action sequences in battles and environments with multiple areas and paths to explore. This includes the brand new Monster Recruitment System, which allows you to enlist defeated enemies into your party that can be developed and grown alongside the game’s main characters.
Yoshinori Kitase (Producer) had this to say regarding the demo:
“The FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 demo provides an excellent opportunity for players to try out the evolved battle system and fully explore an entire area of the game. We are very pleased to give our fans the chance to see the multitude of game improvements for themselves.”
To accompany the release of the demo, Square Enix also unveiled the sixth gameplay series video, titled “Playable Demo”. Check it out below, and be sure to let us know what you think of the demo once you’ve played it.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is set to be released in North America on January 31st 2012 and in Europe on February 3rd 2012. The game will be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
