Over the last month or so, if you have not heard about the whole debate rumbling between former Infinity Ward heads Vince Zampella and Jason West and their publisher at the time, Activision then you must of been hiding in a cave or maybe under a rock or something. Well all that aside, most gamers were wondering what would happen to both Zampella and West now that their affiliation with both Infinity Ward and Activision had come to a end. Well today, EA have announced that both the former Infinity Ward devs will open a new studio called Respawn Entertainment and that the new studio will have the backing of EA with the publishing and distribution side of things but the new studio will have full control of the IP’s that it develops.
Here is what both Zampella and West had to say about the announcement –
“For the past decade we led a great development team and poured our hearts into creating an epic game franchise,” said Zampella. “. We’re very proud of what we built – and proud that so many millions of fans enjoyed those games. Today we hope to do it all over again — open a new studio, hire a great team, and create brand new games with a new partner, EA.”
“Now that the team is in control of the games and brands, we can ensure that the fans are treated as well as they deserve,” added West.
Also the President of EA Partners, Frank Gibeau said –
“Jason and Vince are two of the top creative leaders in the entertainment industry. At EA, we’re honored to be their partners and to give them the support they need to hire a team and return to making incredible games.”
