Sony have confirmed on the official U.S PS Blog the the XL edition of Polyphony Digital’s, Gran Turismo 5 will be released in North America on January 17th.
Japan has Gran Turismo 5: Spec II and now North America (and hopefully Europe) have the same edition but with a slightly different name, hence the XL in the title. Included in the XL version of the game will be the following;
- Original Gran Turismo 5 game, featuring more than 1,000 cars, 20+ locations with 70+ track layouts, diverse racing styles including rally, track, karting, NASCAR, and more, deep online community features and online racing, plus Gran Turismo TV, Course Maker and more.
- All of the new and improved features and functionality from all free downloadable game updates up through Spec 2.0 included on the disc.
- Voucher good for over $20 worth of DLC content, including the Racing Car Pack, Car Pack 2, Course Pack, Racing Gear Pack, and Paint Pack
Also included with the XL version of the game is a reversible inside coversheet featuring the new Red Bull X2011 super car so if you fancy a change, you can change the cover of the game. Check it out below.

Gran Turismo 5 XL has been confirmed for a January 17th release date in the U.S and the title will be priced at $39.99. At present no European release date has been announced but its likely to happen in the near future.
