
Microsoft have announced that Halo 4 brought in over $220 Million in Global Sales in the first 24 hours of the game being available.
The game is also on track to reach $300 million in global sales in the first week which makes it the biggest Halo launch in history and the biggest entertainment launch this year. Halo 4 eclipsed he record for the biggest day-one opening in U.S box office history, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and also the biggest movie of 2012, The Avengers Assemble based on U.S sales alone.
The launch took lifetime sales for the Halo franchise beyond $3.38 billion which cements its status as one of the most popular entertainment franchises in the world. The game also broke the record for the largest number of players in the history of the franchise, with over 4 million players in the first five days. Gamers spent 31.4 million hours playing the game pushing the total amount of hours played in the halo franchise well beyond the 5 billion mark.
Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Studios stated:
