by

There will be a record prize pot at this year’s Insomnia58, it has been revealed today.

Across the various eSports events, there will be £55,500 for winners when it takes place this August 26th – 29th at the NEC in Birmingham.

Overwatch will also be making its Insomnia debut with the popular Team Fortress 2 making a welcome return after its success at i55. Counter Strike: Global Offensive will also return, with the grand finals of the UK Masters to take place on the Friday, and the £7,500 BYOC tournament running the duration of the event. Craig Fletcher, CEO and Founder of Multiplay stated:

This is the largest Insomnia to date. We’re expecting 100,000 people in August, making Insomnia one of the biggest festivals in the UK. We’ve got people coming from all over the UK for four adrenaline fuelled days of gaming. Whether you’re a casual gamer or a competitive esports gamer, there’s a real sense of community spirit at our events where likeminded people can share their passion for games together. It’s a special gathering and we’re immensely looking forward to i58.

Andy Smith, Insomnia Events Director at Multiplay added:

Our BYOC community are huge supporters of Insomnia and we’ve got a loyal following. There is an exciting line up of tournaments and League Fest will be at the event meaning any BYOC attendee cannot afford to miss this event. We’ve already sold over 50 per cent of our tickets, so we’d encourage anyone thinking about coming along to book now. If you wait another week, you might miss out.
