With the announcement of Live Season 2.0 and the fact that it costs money, there was a worry that the usual free January transfer update (that was distributed through Live Season previously) would require a Live Season subscription.
Marcel Kuhn, who is one of the brains behind FIFA 10, has confirmed that the January update will still be free this year.
The January transfer update will be free as usual. We knew about the issue, that last year you had to had Live Season activated to download it, so we’ve added an option to the “Edit Teams” menu option that is called “download latest squads”. This option will be there regardless if you have LS 2.0 activated or not.
