Kabam have announced that their latest title, Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North is now available to download free from the App store for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.

The new game builds on the heritage made from the award-winning multiplayer social game Kingdoms of Camelot which has attracted over 15 million gamers worldwide. It takes players into Britain’s medieval North and sets them up with a deep, Arthurian-style game of strategy and empire building. This new release brings Kabam’s signature hardcore strategy MMO gameplay to mobile devices for the very first time.  This free-to play game will also be followed by additional games developed by Kabam as they continue to expand their product lineup and plaforms.

Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North is an original game that has been exclusively designed in order to re-envision the mythology and gameplay style for the Multi-Touch interfaces of the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. The game features a brand new story and characters and can be played in a persistent world with thousands of others in real time. As the game starts, save Picts have overrun Northern Britain following the death of King Lot of Lothian. Lot’s grieving widowed queen, Morgause begs her half borther Arthur for help. Gamers are challenged to become a powerful Knight and answer Arthur’s call and save the Kingdom

The game features rich graphics with a medieval, hand-painted feel. Players will be immersed into a world of Arthurian fantasy in which has lush green fields in order to grow crops and a picturesque city in which gamers build out by placing down a variety of functional structures. There are a succession of quests in order to help new players develop their own cities including building their first cottage to training their troops to create or join an Alliance with similar knights in order to save or pillage the kingdom.

As gamers find a new kingdom whilst battling savage invaders amongst trying to save Morgause, Arthur’s knights will have to battle the Picts and other players for access to the resources, gold and might. Players will build cities, grow and manage their own resources, raise armies, research alchemy to increase their powers, command knights, engage in real time chat with other players in the game and enter large Alliances. Players will find joining an alliance is a critical part of the game as they allow players to engage in massive, real time battles with hundreds of other players. Once completing the MMO-style experience, players are able to take part in tournaments and other events for rewards and the ultimate reward, bragging rights.
