Konami has today unveiled an international Metal Gear Solid website that will bring fans of the series together by creating a unified online global presence.
The website, MetalGearSolid.com, will premiere unique and exclusive new features such as a truly unique interactive game universe, and a media player which will host the newest game trailers, gameplay footage, and production team updates. Fans will also be able to keep up with the latest news in relation to the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D in the run up to their respective releases.
Making use of a HTML 5-based platform, the website will give fans extensive access to the action-packed plot from the entire Metal Gear Solid series. The innovative site design introduces a first-of-its-kind interactive layered timeline for the series, and media player module which will allow users to access game media and easily explore the whole Metal Gear Solid universe via navigational waypoints, bonus explorations, and the ability to create and share their own Metal Gear Solid content and memories.
MetalGearSolid.com has been designed specifically for fans of the series, allowing them to contribute their own content while immersing themselves in the rich events, characters, and plotlines of the Metal Gear Solid series via three dedicated layers of exploration.
- Layer One is the Metal Gear Solid Timeline, an interactive aggregation of the game series’ most pivotal events, characters, and storylines spanning over 200 years.
- Layer Two is the Production Timeline, where fans can follow and interact with the personal Metal Gear Solid memories, favourites, and insights of key members of the Kojima Productions development team.
- Layer Three is the Player Timeline. Via this, fans can add their own mark to the legend of Metal Gear Solid by submitting their personal nostalgic moments, uploading photos and videos, and viewing and commenting on other players’ memories in order to create a diverse and dynamic community connected by the heritage of the Metal Gear Solid storyline.
In addition to all of the above, MetalGearSolid.com features full Social Media integration. Fans with a Facebook or Twitter account can connect to the site and seamlessly leverage their social channels to enhance their integration into the Metal Gear Solid legacy. Furthermore, an embedded action bar will allow users to ‘Like’, Tweet, Google +1, or create their own content and share their favourite Metal Gear Solid memories.
