Lemnis Gate is a time-loop, strategy FPS where every second can change the course of battle.
To secure a win in Lemnis Gate, you’ll need to have your wits about you and be prepared for the past, present and future turn of events.
Have you ever wished you could go back and speak to your past self? Maybe change your thoughts and actions? Well, in Lemnis Gate, you can do just that! In this very unique combat based FPS, placing 4-D gameplay action right into the palm of your hands, every second counts. The turn based system and precision shooting go hand in hand as you battle your way through various planets near Planet Earth, boasting a set of operatives to chose from, all with a set of unique skills. But here’s the time-loop twist… Every 25 seconds, whatever actions you and your operative decided to do is set in stone and repeat so on and so forth until the end of each match comes about. Many of the abilities from each operative will seem familiar if you play FPS game, but with the game changing twist of time-looping, it sure does make for an interesting experience. In Lemnis Gate, long goes the days of running around blind firing, launching in grenades and just running around until you happen to stumble into an enemy character (I know not everyone plays FPS’ like that.. that’s just how I play them, badly) but in this game, you need to train your mind to think ahead, strategically plan your next point of attack and hope that your fore thinking was enough to secure a win.
So ultimately, you are given the chance to interact with your past self as a new 25 second time-loop begins, pretty cool huh? How will you spend the next 25 seconds…? Will you fight your way to victory, taking down any enemies that stand in your way? Or will you improve your defences by placing down turrets… Or will you repeat the exact same actions which you previously pulled off? The choice is down to you, and the time-looping factor really does bring a sense of strategic thinking to the board. Do be warned though, your enemies will have the exact same time-loop advantage as you, so essentially, you have to think not just about the past you, present you and future you, but also all of that for the enemy players too.. I hope you’re got your thinking cap on when you play! In game, there is a drone flying overhead, so you’re able to keep track of the action.
There are 4 exciting game modes to experience with your time in Lemnis Gate, those being as follows:
Seek & Destroy
Each mode offers the player a range of unique ways to play and the concept of time constantly being looped in quite a short space of time really does make for exhilarating gameplay. You really have to think and plan your attacks, and hopefully watch them pay off. When it does all work and the plan comes together, it’s such a rewarding feeling, but also don’t let getting it wrong put you off… Death is not the final demise in Lemnis Gate, giving the player the ability of ‘Ghost Mode’ where you can go back to a previous round and again, alter the future. To put it simply.. If you lost a team-mate in a previous round, your ghost can go back and alter the actions of that round, therefore ultimately preventing any fatalities. It’s honestly such a cool idea for a game and it really does make for amazing re-playability.
At launch, Lemnis gate will be supporting 1v1 and 2v2 matches, both of which can be done online or through local co-op. For those with Xbox Game Pass, it will be available Day 1 on the service as well! My time with the game was thoroughly enjoyable and I can’t wait for players across the globe to experience the mind bending, time warping sceptical that is, Lemnis Gate, hats off to you Ratloop Games Canada, you’ve created a real unique and exciting game here and I can’t wait to see where it goes in the future. (Time-loop pun not intended…)
