London Games Festival Returning This Year

by

Ukie have announced that the London Games Festival will be returning this year and will run between September 27th and October 28th.

The Games Festival will come with a diverse range of events which include massive consumer exhibitions, game launches and parts and careers’ fair and educational summits. There are also events such as video game pub quizzes and a karaoke which celebrate games culture.

The Festival will be overseen by director Kirsty Payne although it will be curated by the industry as a whole as everyone will be invited to contribute. The last London Games Festival which was held in 2010, saw over 75,000 people attend 26 events. The Festival is set to be the busiest ever, with Ukie events happening alongside those organised by other associations, publishers, developers, games retailers and the gaming community as a whole.

Event director Kirsty Payne stated:

“London Games Festival is a real focus for Ukie this year, We’re looking to unite the whole industry in a month-long celebration of games and gaming culture, and expect this to be the biggest LGF to date. We’re devoting more resources to it than ever before, with the aim of making this the busiest event yet. The way people buy, play and consume games is changing – and we hope to reflect that with a wide range of brilliant events falling under one glorious banner.  Anyone can host an event under the London Games Festival banner – so we’re looking forward to getting the capital playing together and celebrating the culture of games from September 27th”

Dr Jo Twist, Ukie’s CEO added the following:

“Ukie is delighted to be spearheading  the London Games Festival and it’s the perfect opportunity to bring together and showcase all elements of the interactive entertainment  industry including, education and skills, accessibility, government, talent, innovation and above all, fun events for anyone who likes to play games. “
