EA and BioWare have today released details regarding the multiplayer mode that will feature in their highly anticipated action RPG, Mass Effect 3.
Based around four-player co-operative gameplay, the multiplayer facet of the game will put players in the virtual shoes of an elite Special Forces team sent across the galaxy to protect resources and assets that can help the war effort against the Reapers. In a first for the series, the multiplayer mode will allow players to choose from six different classes and races (Human, Krogan, Asari, Drell, Salarian and Turian).
In addition to the multiplayer mode information, EA and BioWare also explained how the Galaxy at War system in Mass Effect 3 will work.
With the Mass Effect 3: Galaxy at War system, players will fight for the survival of the galaxy against an ancient alien race known only as, Reapers, in both the single player campaign and through a suite of Mass Effect games and applications. Progress made in each of the components of the system, including the new multiplayer mode, will directly link back to the player’s main campaign, helping Commander Shepard rally the forces of the galaxy to eliminate the Reaper threat once and for all. The Mass Effect 3: Galaxy at War feature can be activated via the Online Pass code found in every new copy of Mass Effect 3.
We must say, despite early reservations, the four player co-operative multiplayer sounds very very good. What do you guys think? Let us know via the comments section below.
Mass Effect 3 is set to be released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in North America on March 6th 2012 and in Europe on March 9th 2012.
