Microsoft Reveal The Xbox One

Cue the jokes about it being the special or unspecial one. Either way, Microsoft has officially their next-gen systems, titled Xbox One. No solid release date was announced, but it will launch worldwide “later this year”.

The console itself was shown off, with it looking rather big and bulky. It almost looks like two shiny black VHS players stuck together, with the front end housing the blu-ray disc slot (yes, you read that correctly) and power button.

Each new system will come bundled with a new Kinect 2.0 camera that can capture 1080p video at 30FPS. The bundle will include a controller too, which looks rather lovely if we don’t say so ourselves. It hasn’t moved on much design wise compared the 360 controller, but feature force feedback in its trigger buttons. Impressive. Microsoft also stated that the One (get used to calling it that) will house a 500GB hard drive and 8GB of RAM.

In addition to showing off the system itself, Microsoft gave a quick demo of the One’s dashboard. It looked similar to the current one, offering control via Kinect and SmartGlass.

Enough rambling though, check out the One in the reveal video below and let us know what you think.
