Good news, Mortal Kombat fans! You’ll soon be able to perform brutal fatalities on the go, as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has today announced that Mortal Kombat is set to hit the PlayStation Vita system sometime in Spring 2012.
Just like 2011’s console versions, this Vita version will be developed by NetherRealm Studios, but will be designed specifically for gaming on-the-go. This, of course, means you can expect brand new gameplay features and content developed exclusively for Sony’s latest handheld.
Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios stated the following:
โThe NetherRealm team is committed to making sure that we follow up the success of 2011โs Mortal Kombat with an equally compelling experience on the PlayStation Vita. The original game content and new features we developed for the PlayStation Vita will provide gamers with the best fighting game experience available on the new mobile platform.โ
The announcement of Mortal Kombat for the PlayStation Vita was accompanied by the unveiling of the games cover art, which suggests that the handheld version will feature all the DLC that has been released for console versions up until now. Freddy Kreuger, Skarlet, Kenshi and Kratos all appear on the cover for the Vita version in some form or another. With Komplete Kollection recently announced, it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise, but it certainly is good to know that NetherRealm are not looking to leave content out of this soon-to-be-released Vita version.
