The new Xbox LIVE update has been in development for some time now and was officially unveiled at this year’s E3. However, no concrete release date was revealed, until now that is.

According to the folks over at gigaom.com, the new Xbox LIVE update will launch on black Friday (November 25th).

The update which is a modified version of Microsoft’s Silverlight development framework called Lakeview that allows the use features such as Kinect voice recognition and gesture control. Also set to be implemented into the update is Bing universal search and new video apps including BBC, LOVEFiLM, Channel 4 and Channel 5.

Gigaom also report that “the goal is to quickly mature the platform, with the potential of enabling other third-party developers to eventually use the Lakeview framework to build their own apps for the Xbox 360 console”.
