VR is a new way to play games that comes with its own challenges. One of these is that of motion sickness. This is a concern for us at NGB, and we want to ensure that we are open and transparent with every review we post, and ensure that any problems we have are documented. With that in mind, we’ve got 3 stages of comfort that we will be categorising things in. So without further hesitation, here is the NGB VR Comfort Index! (Or, er, NGBVRCI for short)
Each game we play will be listed in one of these 3 categories. For games everyone has played and had no problem with, they will be Comfort Level 3. Those that caused some of the team issues, or gave people minor problems, Comfort Level 2. And for those games that proved difficult to play for anyone, Comfort level 1 will be given.
COMFORT LEVEL 3 – NO ISSUES
100ft Robot Golf
Batman: Arkham VR
Battlezone
Bound
Headmaster
Hustle Kings VR
Job Simulator
The Playroom VR
Rez Infinite
Super Stardust Ultra VR
Tumble VR
Until Dawn: Rush of Blood
COMFORT LEVEL 2 – SOME ISSUES
Driveclub VR – (Andy – some mild motion sickness)
Here They Lie – (Ben – some turning caused mild motion sickness to start with)
PlayStation VR Worlds – (Ben – Scavengers’ Odyssey caused mild motion sickness)
RIGS – (Ben – initial games caused mild motion sickness, after a few games this was no longer an issue)
COMFORT LEVEL 1 – SEVERE/CONSTANT ISSUES
EVE Valkyrie – (Ben/Jonny – Practically unplayable. Severe motion sickness as soon as the ship rotated)
Rise of the Tomb Raider – (Ben/Andy/Jonny – “Comfort” mode is fine, but “Free Mode” caused severe motion sickness)
For me it looks a bit bulky and not very comfortable, but I have to try it out for myself
