NGBDD – 2DS XL, Mario Kart 8 & Little Nightmares

by

Happy Friday y’all! It’s another great for Nintendo fans but if you fancy some on the darker side you’re in for a treat too.

Nintendo 2DS XL

Surprise! The 3DS / 2DS isn’t dead yet. Nintendo has announced a brand new 2DS console, the Nintendo 2DS XL, and you know what, it actually looks really nice. The 2DS XL will be available to buy Jul 28th and comes in two flavours; Black and Turquoise & White and Orange. As you’d assume from the name, the handheld ditches the stereoscopic 3d but does include amiibo support and has the fancy little c-nubbin. There’s been no announcement on a UK price, however, it is going to sell for $149.99 in the US but presumably, with the pound on its arse, that means we could probably just swap the $ symbol for a £ one. GAME have them pre-order for £132.99 at the mo but they will undoubtedly be cheaper elsewhere in the coming weeks.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Today is the day. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is finally available to buy for Nintendo Switch. Mario Kart 8 was originally released on the Wii U and whilst this version of the game is very similar there are more than enough reasons to buy it. Firstly the game runs at a silky smooth 60fps, both docked and in handheld mode. The game also runs at 1080p docked and 720p in handheld mode. You also get all the DLC as standard. Battle mode has been revamped into something more enjoyable. And most are claiming it to be the best Mario Kart game to date. Let’s face it, you’re all playing it already, aren’t you?

Little Nightmares out today

If bright colours and family-friendly entertainment aren’t your bag you should shift your focus toward Little Nightmares. Little Nightmares is a beautifully looking creep game from some of the team behind Little Big Planet and Tearaway. In the game, you play as Six, a nine-year-old girl trying to escape the sinister underwater Maw which is laden with all manner of grotesque entities. The game has been widely praised and you can check out what Deborah thought of the game in our review here, it’s a great read!

That’s it for today, keeping it short and sweet. Have a great weekend, guys and enjoy Mario Kart 8, which you’re almost certainly playing right now.
