Ong-Bak Video Game Announced

Bangkok developer, Studio Hive have announced that they are developing a game based around classic martial arts movie Ong-Bak.

The studio today released a press conference stating that the game will be released at some point during 2012 and will also be a multiplatform title as well. No exact platforms that the game will be released on have been announced as of yet though. Check out the press release below.

Videogame rights for the next installment of world renowned martial arts movie secured by Studio HIVE

Bangkok, January 17, 2012 –Studio HIVE has secured videogame license for the next installment of famous martial arts movie series Ong-Bak. The Thailand based game development team is currently working on a stunning multiplatform game set in the unique Ong-Bak universe. The famous martial arts action brand is a perfect fit for gaming platforms and it is the first time ever that Ong-Bak will be released on various gaming platforms in 2012. The game is being developed in close collaboration with the license holder Sahamongkol Film International in order to achieve a much deeper story involvement for all Ong-Bak fans.

“Ong-Bak is well known as a powerful international martial arts brand. We are very selective with our licensing partners and found in Studio HIVE the right partner to bring Ong-Bak to gaming platforms. Their approach to tie in movie and game is the right way to create a perfect interactive entertainment” comments Akarapol Techaratanaprasert, business development director at Sahamongkol Film International.

The classic Thai martial arts film that starred Tony Jaa as martial arts and athletic nut, Ting and was released all the way back in 2003 and has a cult following among millions of movie fans all across the world.
