Daniel Matros (Global Battlefield Community Manager at DICE) has has confirmed that gamers who purchase a retail copy of Battlefield 3 on the PC will be required to download Origin to play the game.
Matros was asked on Twitter by a fan if it was true that you needed Origin to play the game even if you had the DVD, to which he responded “Yes those “rumors” are true”.
It seems like EA are really pushing their Origin service, so much so that Battlefield 3 won’t be getting released on Steam.
