Patrick Mayer Crowned PES 2013 World Champion

by

The PES World Finals were recently held in Dubai, and the lucky winner and overall PES 2013 World Champion is Patrick ‘Phayton’ Mayer.

Patrick was able to see off tough competition from 31 of the world’s best PES 2013 players, triumphing 4-1 over his Brazilian rival in the grand final.

Konami and distributor Pluto Games hosted the event on a specially-created PES/KONAMI branded part of Pluto’s stand during Dubai’s renowned GAME13 Expo. Entrants from Europe, the Americas, Japan and the Middle East were gathered together in initial groups, and a knock-out competition.

There were plenty of shocks throughout the event which saw 2012 winner, Pauu_24 be an early casualty, and was eliminated within the Group stage. There were only three players who stayed undefeated in the group stage which included Allison Rafael Da Silva Pereira (AKA Allison Black), Ettoritro97 and  ‘Cyrus the Great’.

Patrick fought his way through some tough battles in the semi final and eventually won outright in the final beating Allison, who walked away with a very generous 5,000 euros. However, it was Patrick who took home the trophy and a fantastic 10,000 euros, along with the title of PES 2013 World Champion.

Jon Murphy, European PES Team Leader stated:

What a fantastic way to bring the PES 2013 season to a close, This Dubai event has hosted one of the most exciting and close competitions to date, with a stunning level of skill on show. These players have shown just how skillful a game PES is, and we congratulate Patrick on his victory, and also celebrate Allison becoming the first South American entrant to make the final.

Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment BV added:

Dubai has been a stunning venue for us, and showcases the growing appeal for the PES series in the Middle East, As PES develops as a global concern, so these finals become ever-more important as awareness of the series grows. We have seen entrants from new territories shine in the PES 2013 World Finals, and look forward to further extending its reach as we move forward
