Yes, that’s right. You read the headline correct. If you own a copy of PES 2016, the forthcoming UEFA Euro 2016 content will be completely free.
No, you’re not dreaming. This means you won’t have to play a single penny for whatever Euro 2016 content Konami release for PES 2016.
Sure, it doesn’t paper over the recent data pack and roster update troubles, but it’s a great gesture and show of appreciation to fans.
Yeah, Konami hasn’t announced what the Euro 2016 content will be, but I’m expecting it to be a licensed mode of some sorts where you can play through the tournament and some additional content too. Basically the sort of thing EA charge around £20-£40 for usually. We will get that in PES 2016, for free.
In addition to that, Erik Bladinieres (Konami’s Football & Alliances Director) stated the next data pack is scheduled to be released in early December. This pack will included updated roster, something we’ve all been waiting for. You can read his full statement below.
“It has been a difficult few months for the fans in how we have been delivering content in our recent Data Packs, with some items missing that our consumers expected. The PES Production team appreciate their fans’ support and want to reward their support and bring back confidence in the Data Pack releases. With this announcement, we hope we can regain their trust. The next Data Pack is scheduled for early December, including the Maracana stadium, more faces, new national team kits, club teams and the player roster which was confirmed on October 19th. We strive to keep delivering quality content to our fans, for free. The content of the UEFA EURO 2016 content has yet to be defined, but all content delivered by Data Pack featuring EURO for next year’s prestigious tournament will be free to all existing users.”
While I appreciate Konami giving us something like this for free, there’s two things that concern me about this. The first is I hope it’s more than that add on they charged us for on PES 2014 for the World Cup, and being that Konami probably paid a good bit… Read more »
