Sega have announced that their upcoming MMO, Phantasy Star Online 2 will be free to play.
Although the MMO will be free to play, Sega will recoup money from the game’s item transaction system that will have players pay for certain items in the game. Whilst it is coming out for the PC and PS Vita and will support cross platform play, it is also coming out for iOS and Android. The mobile versions will be a simpler version with social elements.
A release date has not yet been set although the PC version will be out in Spring. The mobile versions will follow in the Autumn and a Vita release will be Spring 2013.
