For all the players!
PlayStation has announced that it’s stepping into the era of modern gaming by finally allowing cross-platform play. The first game to make use of this is, of course, Fortnite.
A beta will go live shortly allowing Fortnite players to finally sync all of their progress and, more importantly, purchases, from the PlayStation 4 to any other console. Initially, PlayStation was firm in not allowing cross-platform play due to PlayStation being the best place to play the game. Others assumed that it was largely down to them wanting to retain their profit of items sold in-game.
Irrespective of their arrogance, they are now open to sharing their platform with its video game brethren meaning that today, gamers are the winner.
“For 24 years, we have strived to deliver the best gaming experience to our fans by providing a uniquely PlayStation perspective. Today, the communities around some games have evolved to the point where cross-platform experiences add significant value to players. In recognition of this, we have completed a thorough analysis of the business mechanics required to ensure that the PlayStation experience for our users remains intact today, and in the future, as we look to open up the platform.”
