PlayStation State of Play Episode 3 Roundup

The ‘The Last of Us Part II’ release date event!!

PlayStation’s State of Play took place yesterday evening and whilst most people tuned in purely for The Last of Us Part 2, there were some other treats in store.

The 20-minute quickfire event showcased a variety of games from AAA through to smaller indie titles and the PlayStation VR was also treated to some extra content. L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files is finally making its way to PlayStation VR after releasing on PC VR last year. There are also a bunch of other VR titles on the way and they’re showcased in this handy montage:

AAA can wait its turn as we look at some of the smaller games coming to PlayStation 4 over the coming months. A new game – Wattam – from the makers of Katamari Damacy looks exactly as you’d imagine and other games – Afterparty & After The Fall – look like a right hoot. But it’s arguably the opening game – Humanity – that has interests most piqued. On the face of it, the game looks mad but when you realise it’s from Enhance, the studio brought us Tetris Effect, Rez Infinite and Lumines, it’s easy to see why this is kind of a big deal.

Now for the big guns (quite literally). A trailer for Modern Warfare’s campaign was shown and it looks to be the perfect cocktail of shooting bad guys mixed with Captain Price. It’s basically another Call of Duty but prettier. But the one everybody was waiting for – The Last of Us Part II – closed the show and oh boy, it’s gonna be a gooden innit? We finally have a better understanding of the story, albeit still shrouded in mystery, and we now know the fate of Joel! I’ll save any spoilers. Watch it below? One thing I will spoil, however, is the release date. The Last of Us Part II is coming out on February 21st 2020!!

And that’s pretty much it. The PlayStation Plus lineup was announced with MLB something and The Last of Us Remastered. Civilization VI is also coming to the PlayStation 4 this year and, well, you can watch the full show here:
