PS3 sold out within months?

by

It seems that the PS3’s hardware could become very limited over the coming months according to their senior director of corporate communications, Patrick Seybold. Recently he released a statement explaining that Sony’s flagship console the PS3 could become very limited at retailers –

“We’re working very hard with our retail partners to meet consumer interest, but the demand is tremendously high for the PS3 and we expect tight inventory in the coming months.

“The strong demand carrying through the holidays was evident and early in the month we [knew] there was going to be limited supply of the PS3 at retail in January. We’re working closely with the retail channel to meet this demand, but expect tight supply for the coming months. “Said Seybold in his statement.

I’ll be honest and say that I’ve not seen or heard of anyone that has noticed or experienced supply issues with the PS3 but maybe the up and coming blockbuster releases like Heavy Rain and God of War III will change that, who knows. In the UK, the big retailers all have PS3 hardware in stock but in the US it seems they are having supply issues with PS3 hardware. Stores of Gamestop and also Target across the US are struggling with demand and are now taking deposits for future shipments.
