Red Dead Redemption 2 official gameplay looks incredible

Ain’t no horseplay here

The first part of Red Dead Redemption 2’s gameplay videos released yesterday and to no one’s surprise, it looks absolutely incredible.

The 6-minute video showcased the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 and gave a brief overview of what you’ll be doing throughout the game. The first thing to note is just how stunning the game looks. From the stunning vistas to the incredible detail in towns, there’s no mistaking that RDR2 is the very definition of next-gen gaming, not literal of course. It’s easy to forget that gameplay seldom matches the quality of theatrical or pre-rendered trailers but seeing this gameplay quashes any doubts. This game is going to shine on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro.

But it’s not just about the visuals. The gameplay also looks to be taking a step up from the original Red Dead Redemption, as one would hope. Hand to hand combat feels more aggressive with a closer camera and added oomph when Arthur both lands and receives a punch. The weapon gameplay, albeit fairly bare, did look a little more closely related to the original game. The trailer’s narrator did explain that each weapon has its own simulated recoil to better portray the power of them. They too have true to life reload animations to help further put you, the gamer, in this wild, wild world.

That’s the one thing that stands out from the trailer. The details. All these little details help make the world feel alive. The towns look and feel alive and I can already picture spending many an hour walking around looking for trouble. There’s so much more to take in from the trailer and you owe it to yourself to check it out now! And if you’ve already watched it, give it another play as there’s a lot to take in.

Prior to this trailer, I wasn’t all too hyped for Red Dead Redemption 2 but I’ve been completely swayed and I’m now boarding the hype train.
