We told you it was coming, and it most certainly has! Capcom has officially announced the existence of Resident Evil 6, as well as releasing a trailer and revealing the release date.
The sixth installment in the popular series will co-star Resident Evil veterans, Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield. They will be joined by new characters, each with their own unique perspective and involvement in the overall story.
Speaking of story, here is Capcom’s official description:
It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.
Does this mean that we can expect the game to take place over several locations around the world? We don’t know for sure at the moment, but going by the description, it certainly seems like a possibility.
What we do know for certain is the next chapter in the Resident Evil saga will be released on November 20th 2012 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with a PC version available at a later date. It has yet to be confirmed by Capcom, but we understand that the title will feature both single player and co-operative gameplay.
