Sony Computer Entertainment chairman Kazuo Hirai has confirmed that the Playstation 4 will not be making an appearance in any shape or form at this years E3 in Los Angeles.
Various rumours have been flying around the internet saying that Sony were ready to make the announcement of the Playstation 3’s successor at the trade show this coming June but Hirai put that rumour to bed saying that Sony have always stated that the Playstation 3 will have a ’10 year cycle’ and nothing has changed in that respect. SCE boss Andrew House also recently made comments stating that the PS4 will not be making an appearance at E3 2012. Hirai confirmed the news regarding a Playstation 4 announcement when attending the Consumer Electronics Show in which a reporter asked the question during a roundtable discussion.
“Andy (House) is absolutely right in that we are not making any announcements at E3,” Hirai said. “I’ve always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that.”
Rumour has it that Microsoft are ready to unveil the successor to the Xbox 360 which if true, would give them a long head start against Sony but again, this has not been confirmed or denied but Microsoft so we will have to wait till June when the show starts to see if this will become a reality or like the Playstation 4 unveil, just rumours. Is it too early for new consoles?. Would you be happy for new systems soon?. Let us know in the comments section below.
