Sony Officially Announce the PlayStation 4

Its been brewing for a while now but over in New York last night, Sony officially announced their next-generation title, PlayStation 4.

The actual PlayStation 4 hardware wasn’t shown at the device although the controller, the DualShock 4 was shown off in its glory, and if your like us, you would of been majorly impressed.

The DualShock 4 will come featuring a touchpad in the centre of the pad, a ‘share’ button and a headphone jack that is useful for  enhanced social interactions. There is also a light bar found at the top of the controller which makes it easier for the controller to identify players. A screenshot of the new DualShock 4 controller can be seen below.

The controller isn’t the only beast of the PlayStation 4. The PlayStation 4 will come featuring an impressive 8GB internal memory and a highly advanced graphics card that allows developers to create graphically stunning games for years to come.

With remote play via the PlayStation Vita confirmed and a completely redesigned online look, the PlayStation 4 is shaping up very nicely indeed and this coming year is going to be very exciting indeed!.

A release date for the PlayStation 4 is currently marked down as Holiday 2013 but there is no indication is if that points to a worldwide release or whether European users will have to wait a little long, as has been reported lately. A price for the PlayStation 4 has not yet been revealed.

With Microsoft expected to follow suit soon with their own announcement of their next-gen console, We would love to hear your initial thoughts on the PlayStation 4 via the comment section below.
