From the headline you might wonder what I’m on about here (it wouldn’t be the first time), but I’m talking about the virtual player stats versus the human player’s ability. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, Jamezinho from our forums says it well in a one-liner here:
I can’t tell if Andrea Pirlo is a world class passer using manual passing, he becomes the same as everyone else.
The point has been raised before and I think it’s a really interesting one; how big a part do you think stats should have in a football game? Do you think the balance is right in FIFA, or do you think it should be more difficult to beat the big teams using the smaller teams? Or do you think it should be easier and that your skill at the game should have more of an impact than it does now?
Would you even go as far as adding a “switch” to the game for ranked matches that allows you to play games in the same way as Be A Pro online – where every player on the pitch is supposed to have the same level of skill? Or do you think this totally devalues the idea of having real teams in the game, with realistic attributes?
As always, let us know what you think on the FSB forums; the discussion thread is here.
