Technicoloured keyboard
SteelSeries has, today, released a brand-new mechanical keyboard – the Apex M750 – priced at £149.99.
Referred to as the ‘complete package’ the Apex M750 includes new QX2 mechanical switches, per key RGB lighting and SteelSeries Engine Apps. The QX2 mechanical gaming switches boast a 50 million key press guaranteed lifespan and their low-force linear actuation point helps keep things nice and quiet, whilst maintaining the ultra-speed response you’d expect.
SteelSeries CEO, Ehtisham Rabbani had the following to say about the Apex M750.
“Gamers have strong and vocal opinions about keyboards; and it’s a crowded market with vast options of different switches, features and materials, but there are always compromises. That is what makes the Apex M750 different – we didn’t compromise on any of it, instead we listened and are delivering the complete package. With the launch of the new keyboard we are proud to bring new and first-to-market SteelSeries Engine features to gamers, like the Discord App, ImageSync and more.”
Launching the Apex M750 brings with it a bunch of updates to the SteelSeries Engine including integrated Discord Chat. The Discord app allows real-time notifications to be synced to SteelSeries illuminated products. This allows streamers, gamers and esports participants to customise notifications on the Apex M750’s, alerting them to new messages, mute statuses and more.
It’s not just the Discord app that’s included in the new SteelSeries Engine update. Other apps include:
- ImageSync – Allows players to easily create complex lighting setups using some witchcraft technology that converts animated gifs into light displays on your keyboard.
- Audio Visualiser – Link the lighting on your keyboard with any music or playlist. Probably don’t listen to any Happy Hardcore in the dark though, yeah?
- Gigantic – The recently released F2p game Gigantic is now integrated with the SteelSeries Engine, delivering real-time reactive illuminations and haptic feedback across all compatible devices, including the Apex M750 of course.
These new updates sit alongside the existing PrismSync, synching of multicoloured lighting effects between Prism-enabled gear, and GameSense, a responsive in-game lighting system that reacts to things such as low health, ammo etc.
