Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Confirmed For September Release On Consoles

by

Producer of the Tekken series, Katsuhiro Harada has confirmed that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be released in September and will also feature more characters in the console versions than the arcade version of the same name.

During a Namco Bandai press conference today, Harada confirmed that console versions of the game will feature more than 44 characters that are present in the arcade version, although he didn’t announce the exact amount. Also confirmed are new exclusive console only modes in the form of 1-on-1, 2-on-1 and 2-on-2 matches. In regards to the last match type, in Pair Play mode, each of the four characters will be controlled by a different player, meaning you’ll be able to play with four players in total at the same time on different planes.

In addition to that,  the console versions will feature a “Fight Lab” mode too, which will allow players that are new to the series and fighting games in general to learn the game at their own. If you’re a more advanced level player, the mode will allow you to play against customised bots, offering you different challenges.

Katsuhiro Harada also revealed (and quashed any fears that the hardcore fans of the series may have had) that the console versions of the game will be built independently and not a port of the arcade version.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is set to be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this September.

I'm a huge fan of the PES, MGS and Uncharted series', and anything else in between. If you love a good gaming discussion or want to talk about anything else, then feel free to get in touch.
