The days of churning coin after coin into a decrepit cabinet with peeling stickers and broken buttons may be long gone for most, but that doesn’t mean we can’t relive those moments from the comfort of our sofas.
Thanks to downloadable services like PSN and XBLA, we’ve seen a host of classics descend onto consoles, complete with checkpoints and save systems, to be enjoyed without getting sticky fingers or choking on the smoke pouring from the guy that gives you change. The next revered arcade title making it’s way onto our hard drives looks to be The Simpsons Arcade.
In a post on the Australian Classification Boards website, we can see that the game has already received a PG rating. It’s being developed by Backbone Entertainment and published by Konami (The original Delevoper and Publisher). There isn’t any detail on release dates or platforms as yet.
If you can’t wait for a Simpsons Arcade fix, EA produced a fairly faithful remake for iOS. The gameplay tows the line, but the story is different. You can find it on the App Store.
