With the big hitters in the football gaming world EA and Konami having the majority share since day 1, and a few pretty ordinary newcomers coming and going (looking at you Club Football and This is Football) it seemed like the two giants of the genre would have their own way yet again but now there is a newcomer on the scene. Step up Ubisoft and their up and coming ‘May 2010’ title, Pure Football.
Although not much has been announced about the game apart from a teaser trailer and a few screenshots, it seems that Ubisoft have decided to try and make the game a ‘fun’ title with its “FIFA Street style looks and play” rather than going down the route of pure simulation that we are used to with the likes of Pro Evolution Soccer and FIFA and there is nothing wrong with that at all and I will be keeping an eye on this title to see how it progresses.
Here is the official take on what Pure Football is all about –
The life of the modern professional footballer is one of status, success, and celebrity. Yet there is a group of elite players who are prepared to risk everything to participate in something more. They want the beautiful game in its purest form, 5-a-side football played on the very edge, where the rules are decided by those who take part, not by a referee.
It is here that the players are free to play, here that they feel most alive, here that they are first and foremost footballers… “Pure Footballers”.
These 5-a-side matches are intense, fast-paced and spectacular! With Pure Football, get ready to experience the raw sensation of Football.
