Of course, we’ve been counting the seconds here at NGB (some more than others), but for some gamers the news of the premiere may have whiffed passed them like a fusion grenade in the breeze. With that in mind Activision have laid out a nice reminder, plus some useful information on where we can go to watch the much hyped event.
First and foremost, the Destiny 2 gameplay premiere will be airing tomorrow – Thursday 18th at 6pm BST – and will be hosted by developer Bungie, with some special guests, from an airplane hanger in Hawthorne, California. If you wasn’t one of the plethora of community folks who received the infamous invite package, then you’ll be able to watch the broadcast on Destinythegame.com or Bungie’s Twitch channel.
Excited? Let us know in the comments, and feast your eyes upon some of the bits we know so far below, courtesy of Activision.
The Vanguard
The Vanguard consists of three high-ranking Guardians: Zavalla, Ikora Rey, and Cayde-6. They represent each of the Guardian classes: Titan, Warlock and Hunter and act as leaders of the Guardians – directing the action and setting mission objectives. How will they respond to the new danger facing humanity?
Warlock – Ikora Rey
Ikora’s role in the Vanguard is to study enemy threats, particularly any unconventional threats posed by the forces of darkness, and is typically the first to react to them. In Destiny 2 her leadership will be needed more than ever in humanity’s fight against Lord Ghaul and his Red Legion.
Titan – Commander Zavala
Commander Zavalla is a veteran Titan who coordinates the defence of the City. In Destiny 2 we will see how he responds, now that humanity’s last safe city has fallen to Lord Ghaul.
Hunter – Cayde-6
Arguably the fan favourite, Cayde-6 proved popular in both the teaser and reveal trailer. The Ghost once remarked “Cayde is a cunning hunter, with years of experience in staying alive in the wilds. But, um, fighting a war isn’t his strong suit. I’m not sure the ‘shoot them all to death’ strategy is going to be enough.”
An Attack on the Tower
The Tower, and the last safe city, is the home of the Guardians and the stronghold for what is left of humanity, on Earth. The catastrophic attack on the Tower, as featured in the trailer, sets the tone for the story of Destiny 2. How do heroes react when their home is threatened?
A New Enemy
We’ve not shared much about this new threat to humanity. All we know is that this Cabal force, known as the Red Legion, is a new deadly enemy comprised of a variety of combatants from massive soldiers to rabid dog like creatures. We’re looking forward to showing off the powers that Guardians will wield, to face off against this new threat, when we reveal new gameplay on May 18th.
